Live, Work and Play Safely" by Heather Hammonds

Live, Work and Play Safely” by Heather Hammonds

Think about an activity that you do, or a sporting activity you belong to and make a list of the rules that members need to follow.  For each rule, briefly explain why this rule has been put in place.

Rugby

The Rule is …..
Why this rule has been put in place…..
No tripping up.
The rule is put in place because it could start a conflict.
No high tackles.
The rule is put in place because you may
break or damage their spinal cord
Don’t wear sharp pointed shoes.
The rule is put in place because you can
leave a badly wounded arm or leg.
No forward passes.
The rule is put in place because the game would not be fair.
No shepherding.
The rule is put in place because it is unfair to let  someone else take the tackle.
Wear a mouthguard.
The rule is put in place because  if you don’t wear one you could possibly break your teeth.

My group made a graph of a sport and we had to explain the rules in the graph.

Peace Sense Poem

I am learning to write a Poem about Peace One Day using my senses.
I am so proud of being able to make my work more colourful and vivid.
It can be tricky to find descriptive and interesting words to use in my sentences.
My Teacher can help me by checking my work and giving me feedback.

The next step for me in my learning is to write another Peace Poem.

ANZAC Landings

A Thousand ANZACs And Me

It’s 2 am and I have just got my head around this campaign.  I thought that being with my best friend Jamie we had no reason to be frightened. But that all quickly ended. There were a thousand ANZACs and me all crammed into an old boat.  Suddenly I heard a big BANG! repeating on and on.

I identified it as a machine gun that the Turkish troops were using against us.  I had no hope any more. I knew I was going to die. A thousand rifles and bayonets versus a machine gun that held the high ground. We stood no chance.

I felt a strong pain in my arm.  I fell to the bottom of the boat. I had been shot.  Was I going to survive? At the edge of my sight I could see my best friend shot in front of me.  Blood was leaking from his chest like a waterfall.

A thousand ANZACs and me were no more….

I am learning to write an interesting recount.
I am so proud of using descriptive and vivid words in my recount.
It can be tricky to the right adjectives for the right sentence.
My buddy can help me by checking my work.
The next step for me in my learning is to find an interesting topic for me to write about.

Peace One Day Taster Lunch

As part of  our Inquiry work on Peaceful Communities we have been  learning about World Peace Day  on September 21st. On Friday 19th September we held a Taster Shared Lunch with Rooms  19 and 22.   We  had to bring in a small sample of a food that we might eat at home as a family favourite  or a food from our culture.  This helps us to learn about each other’s cultures and about tolerance of others.

Percentages and Fractions

Percentages and Fractions Reflection

I am learning to solve problems by using my understanding of the equivalence between percentages and fractions.

I am so proud of being able to work out percentage and fraction problems by myself.
It can be tricky to divide by 10.
My buddy can help me by checking my work to see if it is wrong or right.
The next step for me in my learning is to try more Stage 7 questions.

Plastics Good Or Bad ?

 Plastics Good or Bad?

Plastics are good because we can reuse plastics. So we can reuse plastic bottles. When you drop them they will not break like the glass bottles. Also plastic is very light when compared with glass and ceramics. Plastic containers are  handy for storing foods and drinks.
Plastic is a good way to store harmful substances such as bleach.  Many items that were once made of metal are now made of plastic. Cars are a good example.

For all of those reasons we think that Plastics our good and useful

By Jack and Bailey

Me and my buddy Bailey were working on a task called Plastics Good or Bad.We were focusing on finding reasons why plastic is good for our every day life.

Peace and conflict

This is a word salad representing peace and war.
